Japanese Apartments in Jakarta

Jakarta, especially neighborhoods around business districts within the Golden Triangle, attracts expatriates from all over the world, including Japan. However, despite the many apartments around, few offer comfort and convenience to make the Japanese community feel right at home. 

Thankfully, Indonesians and Japanese developers have dedicated themselves to build an environment that introduces the Japanese lifestyle to this tropical city.  Here, we’ve compiled a list of Japanese Apartments in Jakarta that we recommend.

1. 1Park Residence

1Park Residence is a long-standing favorite among Japanese citizens in Jakarta. Standing in the foreigner-friendly Kebayoran Baru neighborhood, it’s one of the few apartments that exclusively cater to the Japanese lifestyle.

It’s only under 20 minutes away from the Japanese embassy. The Sudirman Central Business District and Mega Kuningan are also quickly reachable from this apartment.

Public transportation is easy to find in the area. For example, there is the Blok M BCA MRT station that can take you almost all over the Jakarta Golden Triangle. Transjakarta buses are also available at CSW and Mayestik stations.

1Park Residences has Jakarta’s best shopping centers nearby, like Plaza Senayan, Gandaria City, Senayan City, and Pondok Indah Mall. Senayan City and Gandaria City are famous for being hangout spots with high-class restaurants from various countries. Meanwhile, Pondok Indah Mall is known for a mall with the most comprehensive products in Jakarta.

2. Kyo Serviced Apartments

Kyo Serviced Apartment is a combination of hotel and serviced apartments under Topaz, a Jakarta-based company whose accommodations mainly cater to long-staying foreigners, especially Japanese expatriates.

Kyo Serviced Apartment is only several minutes away from the Rs. Fatmawati main road. If you get to the end of Abdul Majid Raya street, you’ll only need to cross the road to reach the Haji Nawi MRT station. Using the MRT service, you can get to the Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex and the surrounding Sudirman Central Business District.

The Fatmawati area is close to many shopping and retail centers. The apartment is only under 10 minutes away from Japanese supermarkets Papaya and Kamome. Other bigger malls include Pondok Indah Mall 2, Lippo Mall Kemang, as well as local favorite Gandaria City Mall. 3. Branz Simatupang

Branz Simatupang is a property developed by Tokyu Land. This apartment aims to weave Japanese elegance into the design of this luxury apartment. Right by the side of Tol Pondok Pinang-TMII, Tokyu managed to build a ‘water garden palace’ after extensive gathering and analysis of Jakarta soil, housing plan, and traditional culture.

Since the apartment is standing along the tollway, residents of the Branz Simatupang can get to vital business districts across Jakarta, such as Sudirman Central Business District. 4. 1Park Avenue

A neighbor and ‘brother’ to 1Park Residence, 1Park Avenue is a four-tower residential apartment complex, by PT. Intiland. It’s a luxury apartment that offers penthouses, a rarity in Jakarta apartments.

Apart from its closeness to embassies and business districts (such as SCBD and Mega Kuningan), it’s also not far away from toll roads Jakarta Inner Ring Road and Jakarta Outer Ring Road. 

The nearest Transjakarta stations are the CSW stop and Mayestik. 1Park Avenue is also only seven minutes’ away from the Blok M BCA MRT station.

For shopping, there’s Papaya, a Japanese supermarket selling imported products from Japan and Korea, including delicious sushi (that regularly get discounts in the evening).

The biggest and most recommended mall around is Gandaria City. It has a well-loved cinema (due to having one of the only two IMAX screens in Jakarta), a variety of shops from international and national brands, and restaurants that serve food from Japan, Mexico, and so on. It’s always a hit with locals and foreigners alike.

Notable in-site facilities include an outdoor pool, a well-maintained gym, courts for tennis and basketball, BBQ area, and sauna. For parents’ convenience, there is a playground and a playroom, and a daycare, too.
