One-Fifteenth Coffee, whose name was inspired by the coffee to water ratio in a cup, was a family business owned by Nathalia Gunawan. She is a coffee enthusiast who grew up in Austalia which is one of the countries with the best baristas and coffee roasters in the world. They specialize in Rojali (Rock Java Lime), a cold drip coffee brew combining iced coffee and lime soda. They also have specialties when it comes to their foods such as Acai Bowl from the sweet section and Egg Florentine from the savory section. 1/15 Coffee offers a variety of classes from teaching participants how to manually grind and brew coffee as well as an espresso class. Currently, there are five outlets in Jakarta – Kemang, Gandaria, Senopati, Kebon Jeruk, and Menteng.

Kopi Kalyan opened its first outlet in Cikajang, South Jakarta. They are known for their Es Kopi Kalyan which blends coffee with sugar and milk, making this place one of the best coffee shops in Jakarta. Along with your coffee, you can order their specialties of your preference of local Indonesian food such as Nasi Goreng Kebuli and Mie Ayam Pangsit or their international options of Fish and Chips, and Truffle GyuDon.

A collaboration of 3 Inodneisans studying in the United States generates the idea of the coffee shop and roastery called Common Grounds. Common Grounds has grown to one of the best coffee shops in Jakarta. This shop serves both food and beverage that makes this place a comfortable option for customers who want to have a big meal or only a cup of coffee with some snacks. The choice of coffee includes classics such as cappuccino and espresso to filter coffee.

Their consistent performance helped them to win some awards such as Indonesian Barista Champions for 4 times and Indonesian Latte Art Champions 5 times. There are several locations in Jakarta (Neo Soho, Citywalk Sudirman, Pondok Indah Mall 2,etc.), 1 in Bandung, 2 in Surabaya, and 1 in Palembang.

5. Kopi Es Tak Kie

Different from all the modern coffee shops mentioned above, this old-fashioned yet still trendy coffee shop has been serving people since 1927. Due to long queues and limited portions to maintain their quality, this shop opens at 6.30 am to 2 pm only. Coffee shops usually provide wifi for their customers to stay for a long time, however the interesting thing in Kopi Es Tak Kie, even though there is no wifi, people stay here to engage in long-lasting conversations with their friends. Throughout the stores, the walls are decorated with photos of famous people who have visited the shop such as celebrities and also the president, Mr. Jokowi.
