Mega Kuningan, a sprawling business district in South Jakarta offering various five-star hotels—two of them being the renowned JW Marriott and The Ritz—as well as high-rise apartment towers like the Bellagio Mansion. The district is also home to several governmental buildings, especially embassies, namely those of China and Kuwait. There are also offices of many local and multinational companies which makes Mega Kuningan one of the lavish areas in Jakarta. 

This, in return, makes room for bars and nightclubs to compete within the district. If you’re looking to enjoy the evening with your friends and co-workers, or even to simply unwind, we’ve compiled five best bars in Mega Kuningan (in no particular order) so you know where to go when you need a quick sip:

BASQUE Bar de Tapas

BASQUE Bar de Tapas offers Spanish fine dining topped with refreshing cocktails and drinks, alongside the elegance of candle-lit tables and the view of Jakarta skyline—available during the day and the evening. Bauhaus 1933

If you’re looking to hang out rather than dig in for a large meal, then Bauhaus 1933 is definitely on your go-to list. It’s a nice place to spend your evening with your friends while enjoying prudent Western or Mexican food. Accompanied by the feel of traditional Mexican bars with baroque-styled interior, Bauhaus 1933 also offers a wide selection of cocktails, sours, and light meals presenting the original and authentic taste of Mexican food.

We highly recommend their Lobster on Burger if you’re into large bites, otherwise you should also try their Mountain Stick Fries for some of that savory goodness!

Cazbar

A cozy old-school-styled friendly pub operating 2005 which also sticks to the old-school live music attractions and happy hours. Offering both Western and Asian food, they also present an extensive selection of wines and other interesting menus. Whilst the indoor space is small, but what makes up for this bar is the taste of their food! 

We highly recommend trying their smoked pork rib sliders—the harmony between sweet and savory food you never knew you wanted. Or, if it’s finger food you fancy for sharing, you can try their specialty Caz Platter which offers a wide array of snacks including baguette, bitterballen, spring rolls, and other light bites.

Looking for something a bit fancier? Then you want to consider going to FLOW to fill your evening! Within the menu is a mix of Western and Indonesian heritage cuisine, also accompanied by a wide array of both alcohol and non-alcoholic drinks. Be sure to stick around late, because during after-hours, there’s always a DJ ready to bump your evening to be a more enjoyable one.

We recommend trying their Truffle Mac & Cheese, which is also put on their recommended dishes for being so good!

For us, those five are the most worth visiting—if not the best—bars in Mega Kuningan, Jakarta.
