Namarina is the first non-formal institution of ballet, jazz, and fitness in Indonesia. Established in 1956 by Nanny Lubis, now Maya Tamara runs Namarina as principal/artistic director. Namarina has several studios in Jakarta. Being the oldest ballet institution in Southeast Asia, Namarina wants to create a society that is well and healthy. They also want to strengthen social interaction and build aesthetical consciousness- all through dance education, especially ballet and jazz.

The classes are different in many branches across Jakarta, but each class lasts for around an hour. The types of classes that they offer are Pre-ballet 1, pre-ballet 2, pre-primary, and ballet for adults that you can find in the Namarina headquaters and Namarina Kebayoran.

2. Marlupi Dance Academy

MDA’s curricula consist of various types of dance including classical ballet (technique, pas de deux, variations, point), modern dance, jazz, hip hop, and fitness (body conditioning – strength – core exercise) all around Jakarta, even Indonesia. 4. Indonesian Dance Theatre

Indonesian Dance Theatre was built by Sisilia Oey. They don’t want to keep their talents to themselves. Instead, they want to share the experiences they have with the students and teach them how to be professional dancers. Like any other ballet classes in Jakarta, they provide Pre School, Pre Primary & Primary, Grade 1-3, Intermediate, advanced classes, and classes for adults. Ade Rayanti School of Ballet is one of the best ballet schools in South Jakarta, with a branch at Kidscenter Bintaro. Established in 1967 by Ade Rayanti, Ade Rayanti School of Ballet is specializing in Classical Ballet. The curriculum is based on the Vaganova System from Russia.
