Alternatively, you just want to make sure that something as severe as STDs/STIs won’t get in the way of your fun. Either or, you definitely need to know where to get tests and treatments if it will ever come to that. And that’s why we are here. In this post, we will show you some places to get tested and treated accordingly. We’ll also explain shortly about STDs/STIs, although in our expert opinion, you better double up by asking for consultation from an expert in one of these clinics.
What’s a STD/STI?
In case you haven’t got the gist of it yet, here is a general idea of what is an STD/STI. STD stands for Sexually Transmitted Diseases, while STI stands for Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs). Both of them have the same definition, which is a condition that can be transmitted through vaginal, anal, and oral sex with another person who is inflicted by STDs/STIs.
In addition to sexual activities, STDs/STIs can be infected by other people through blood-related activities such as sharing syringes. Other than that, pregnant women or women post-childbirth can also spread STDs/STIs to children. Lastly, there is also a possibility that one can be inflicted by STDs/STIs without showing any symptoms. There are some STDs that do not show any symptoms at the beginning of the infection but will over time develop and grow inside the body.
Symptoms and types of STDs and STIs
Here are some commonly found STDs
- Chlamydia
- Syphilis
- HIV/AIDS
- HPV
- Gonnorhea
- Trichomoniasis
- Herpes
As for symptoms, the first thing that you need to know that sometimes STDs can be asymptomatic, meaning that someone who got infected will not show any discernible symptoms. If any, the symptoms may start as something a bit general. This includes influenza, fever, nausea, or maybe even general discomfort in the genital area. If some time has passed, the diseases may move on to the next stage, which comes in the form of painful discharges. At this point, it’s really best you start heading for an appointment with your nearest clinic or doctor.
When should I get myself tested?
The sooner the better. STDs/STIs can be silent diseases in general as they often infect someone without any kind of symptom. What’s also important is to always include your partner or partners in the check-up in order to not leave any stone unturned. If you feel like you’ve been too recklessly frisky, there is no stopping you to check up right away. Alternatively, if you’ve been feeling some of the symptoms that we explained before, then book an appointment as soon as you’re able.
