Other important things to note when living in Bali about Bali’s Police

Alright, now that we know some of the important locations we would like to share information about unique sides of police conduct in Bali. These tips, other than being helpful in times of need, might actually help ease your adaptation to life in Bali. In addition, we would also like to share some important mannerisms to not get into trouble with Balinese authorities.

Salak Bali

Starting from 2017, the provincial police force have created an application to help them in preventing crime or catching one in the act. This app is named Salak Bali, which is an abbreviation of Sistem Aplikasi LAyanan Kepolisian Bali (translation: Police Service Application System Bali) . With this, both foreigners and locals alike can report and share distressing events occurring around them. From shoplifting, brawling, arson, theft, or even murder, this app allows a quick report to nearby police apparatuses. If you are living in Bali, you could both help the police maintain order and safety while also protecting yourself by getting this app.

Other than Salak Bali

Foreigners Community Club/Tourist Police

Other than Salak Bali, there is also an established Foreigners Community Club or FCC. This is an official subdivision of the police force in Bali consisting largely of foreigners and expats. It is a voluntary organization with a community-like structure, where members help with cases involving tourists and police by acting as a mediator. In addition, they also help with cases like missing persons. The FCC can certainly help you if you are in need of an experienced expat who knows their way around Bali. If you feel you can help, you can try and join their activities from time to time!

Important Tip: Be aware of naughty police officers

Out of the nice, hard working police in Bali there are a few bad apples. These members of the police force often use less than reputable methods to extort and harass both tourists and locals Be really careful when going around, especially with a motorcycle without a license nor a helmet!
